In studies dating back more than 10 years, the Yonge Street / Highway 401 interchange has been identified as on of the key contributors to gridlock in the North York Centre area.
The City of Toronto has set aside funding for its share of a solution in its Capital Budget. Because the interchange is on Provincial land however, the City can’t fix the problem by itself.
The Province of Ontario, as recently as May 2016, continues to insist upon study after study, offering no firm timeline for the project as a whole, nor a firm commitment to constructing a solution.
Residents are fed up not only with the traffic delays but with the delays caused by he bureaucrats stalling on a solution. It’s time to tell the Ministry of Transportation and our provincial representatives that we expect action.
